Mar 29, 2019

Egyptian athletes swimming their way to the top!

While everyone is looking forward for the weekend, we’re here looking forward to seeing the performances of our swimmers at the TYR Pro Swim Series! For those of you who aren’t familiar with this tournament (but will soon love!), TYR Pro Swim Series is a series of meets where the best swimmers globally race, across different cities across the United States. We supported our athletes during the NCAA Swimming Meet, and guess what? We’re here to continue showing them love and support as they prepare for the third stop of the series, held in Richmond, Virginia. A total of FIVE Egyptian swimmers are making us proud this week, let’s take a quick look at who!

Abdelrahman, a freshman, is one of the upcoming stars of Egyptian swimming. He was a bronze medalist in the 50M Freestyle at the Youth Olympics in 2018. His achievements don’t end there as he is now the Egyptian record holder in the 50M Butterfly at the age of 17.

At this week’s Swim Series, he will be swimming: 100M Butterfly, 50M Freestyle, 50M Butterfly (Egyptian Record Holder - 23.69), and 100M Freestyle.

Mohamed Samy - Junior at Indiana University -  Cairo, Egypt

May we remind you that Mohamed, only a junior, just had an incredible college season with the Indiana Swimming and Diving Team at NCAA two weeks ago - (NCAA Recap - Click Here). Now switching gears to the long course season.

Mohamed is one of the most versatile swimmers in Egypt’s swimming history. Holding Egyptian heads up high, he holds the record in the 50M Backstroke and the 100M Freestyle and is also the second all time performer in the 100M Backstroke, 200M IM, and the 200M Freestyle - all races that he will be swimming this week.

Mazen Elkamash - Grand Canyon University Graduate - Alexandria, Egypt

Continuous Egyptian pride, Mazen is a great sprinter, definitely raising the bar for Egyptians. He was one of the only two swimmers to dip right under the 23 seconds in the 50M Freestyle back in 2015. This series, he will be racing: 50M Freestyle, 100M Freestyle.

He will be competing in: 50M Breaststroke, 100M Breaststroke, 200M Breaststroke.

Farida Osman - University of California Berkeley Graduate - Cairo, Egypt

A name that we know speaks for itself. A 2017 World Championship Bronze Medalist in the 50M Butterfly, Farida Osman is one of the swimmers of this era. Dominant in the butterfly swim in both Egypt and Africa and reshaping the future of swimming, we are more than happy to see Farida race the following this week: 50M Butterfly, 100M Butterfly, 50M Freestyle, 100M Freestyle
